UK/EU – Benefits of membership

This page is for new memberships from the UK/EU. If you reside outside of the UK/EU areas, then please use the International Membership Page.

We offer two categories of Individual membership: Ordinary and Senior. The membership categories, benefits and rates are explained in more detail below. In addition, we offer a concessionary rate for Students/Retired/Unemployed members. Institutions, such as university libraries, may also join in order to receive copies of our publications and access to our web site member content. We are also pleased to accept corporate memberships.

All Members: All members receive the following membership benefits:

  • Online access to back issues of the AISBQ (Quarterly) magazine, together with online access to our current publication Discussions. These contains concise articles covering the latest research in AI, book reviews, conference reports, opinion pieces, and Father Hacker, in the UK and beyond.
  • Weekly e-mail bulletin, which contains the latest news, conference calls, job opportunities and information on worldwide AI events.
  • Reduced registration fees at the annual AISB convention, one of the UK’s biggest general AI conferences. Typically this reduced rate makes it more affordable to join the Society and then register for the convention than to attend the convention as a non-member.
  • Reduced registration fees at the ECAI conferences through AISB’s membership of EurAI and all other EurAI benefits including free access to EurAI AI Communications from the Members Only Area.
  • Travel awards from both AISB and EurAI (priority given to student members).
  • Assistance in the formation of local and regional AI Groups through small grants towards recruiting external speakers.
  • Electronic subscription to Connection Science
