Online Student Grant Application Form

Apply for a grant

Details

  • Student grants are usually limited to £400 (GBP) maximum.
  • AISB generally sponsors only one student grant for any given Computer Science/Artificial Intelligence/Cognitive Science conference.
  • On request, we send out a student grant letter that can be used as collateral for an institutional `loan’ (e.g., university buying you a travel ticket, booking accommodation).
  • As a requirement for receiving the grant, the recipient must contribute a short article about their work suitable for publication in AISBQ within three months of the event, and send it to the Treasurer. (The article should follow the AISB submission and formatting guidelines) and needs to be submitted via email. In certain cases, the conference report can be substituted with a report on the student’s research. The report should be between 700-1000 words (1500 words max).
  • Once the conference report has been accepted by the AISBQ editor, the AISB treasurer transfers the grant to a UK bank account or via Paypal for the agreed value of the student grant.
  • The AISB greatly prefers to offer student grants to those who are giving a paper or a public talk, rather than only attending a conference. We also prefer to offer student grants for attendance at relevant conferences (i.e., those in the fields of Artificial Intelligence or Cognitive Science) or for presentations at more general Computer Science conferences where the subject of the presentation is relevant to Artificial Intelligence or Cognitive Science.
  • AISB does not offer grants for any AISB convention, symposia, workshops or other AISB-organised events under its Student Grant scheme. However, at the discretion of the event organiser, there may be some student bursaries available. Please contact the event organiser for details.
  • Scholars without a regular income or those currently un-waged may be considered as eligible for the Student grant.
